Galle, Sri Lanka
Galle Clock Tower is a simple but significant landmark within the historic Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in southern Sri Lanka. Built in 1883, it commemorates a local doctor and stands on the site of an older guard room overlooking the sea. While modest in design, its appeal lies in its setting: it offers a clear sense of the fort’s colonial history and makes a pleasant stop during a walk along the ramparts and old streets.
