Der Aa-kerk is one of Groningen’s most distinctive historic landmarks, set beside the old harbor in the city center. Dating mainly from the 13th to 15th centuries, this Gothic church reflects Groningen’s medieval trading past and is named after the nearby River Aa. No longer used as a regular parish church, it now hosts exhibitions, concerts, and events, giving visitors a chance to experience both its architecture and cultural life. Visit for its atmospheric interior, striking silhouette, and convenient location near other central sights.
