About Marble Palace

Marble Palace is one of Kolkāta’s most distinctive 19th-century mansions, known for its richly decorated interiors, European sculptures, paintings, chandeliers, and extensive use of marble. Built in 1835 by Raja Rajendra Mullick, it offers a glimpse into the lifestyle and tastes of a wealthy Bengali family during the colonial era. The house remains privately owned, and visits usually require advance permission, but those interested in architecture, art collections, and the city’s layered history may find it especially rewarding.
