Elephant Mountain

Elephant Mountain (Xiangshan) is a short, steep hike in Taipei offering one of the city’s best skyline views, especially of Taipei 101 at sunset and night. The well-maintained stone steps lead to multiple viewing platforms and boulder perches, making photography easy. The trailhead is minutes from Xiangshan MRT, and the round-trip takes about an hour. Expect crowds during peak times and humid conditions; bring water and proper shoes. If you enjoy quick urban hikes with rewarding panoramas, Elephant Mountain is a worthwhile stop; if you prefer quieter nature trails, consider Taipei’s longer Maokong or Yangmingshan routes.
